Illness and Exclusion Periods

  • At MAP we value each child's health and we do everything we can to prevent infection when children are at nursery.

  • Any child who is unwell should not attend, regardless of whether they have a confirmed infection. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, some children will pick up illnesses, many of which are contagious even before they display symptoms. Because of this we enforce strict exclusion periods for children suffering from certain illnesses or symptoms to reduce risk of cross-infection within the nursery, both towards other children and our parents and employees. Notices will be displayed around the nursery to alert you of any contagious diseases or instances of sickness or diarrhoea.

The premises is cleaned regularly by cleaning staff. Cleaning tasks are completed at the end of each day and signed by a member of staff. Deep clean happens during school holidays, inservice, Christmas closure etc.

Children are supervised and encouraged to wash their hands after using the toilet or being changed. Staff model this good practice. Paper towels are used for drying hands to prevent cross contamination.
